Traditional Hutsul zgarda is a talisman and decoration that has deep roots in Carpathian culture. This zgarda is handmade on the basis of ceramic corals (small cylindrical beads of warm red color) and bronze cast crosses. Each cross has a unique shape - this is a characteristic feature of Hutsul zgardas, because each master puts his own symbolism and vision into the product. Ceramic corals imitate coral of natural origin, which was very popular in the Carpathians as a symbol of health, strength and female beauty. Bronze crosses are cast by hand according to ancient models. It can be a trinity cross, a cross-amulet, or a "solar" cross - a symbol of light and life. The number of crosses (five) symbolizes protection from all sides. It was considered a talisman against evil forces, diseases and misfortune. It was used as part of a festive or wedding outfit. Often had ritual or family significance, passed down through generations. This zgarda is a wonderful example of the combination of craft, tradition and spirituality. It can be used as an ethnic decoration or an authentic gift.
