Bronze zgarda 7х4 (ЗБ 01-14)

The Mighty Maltese cross, which in pre-Christian times was used as a symbol of the Knights Crusaders, is often cast in bronze by Hutsul artisans. The sign of the four elements unity is an integral part of jewelry such as zgarda. They symbolize the harmony of human with the world. The famous Hutsul masters make crosses of soft bronze that is perfectly minted and engraved. The profession «mosjazhnik» is highly respected in the Carpathians, because handcrafts in the form of zgardas are famous throughout the world and are considered as unique ethnic folk handicraft works, made according folk traditions.

Zgarda is a talisman for its owner and contains unpaired number of crosses, strung on a metal wire. Usually zgardas are complemented by ceramic corals and are a festive breast adornment for national Carpathian outfits.

For example, bronze zgarda «ЗБ 01-14» (7х4 сm) is cast of bronze under the home conditions in the form of Maltese cross by the master Orest Oniskiv. The high quality casting and minting of the product are complemented by a crucifix in the center. On both sides of the cross on the metal wire are put ceramic corals.
