In ancient times, the mention of rushnykh is found even in the period of Kyivan Rus. Embroidery on rushnykh symbolized fertility and wealth. They were used to wrap trees during religious ceremonies and sacrifices. Ancient ritual rushnykhs were called "ubrus" and have retained their meaning to this day. In some areas of Polissya, ancient customs were observed until the end of the 20th century.
We present the embroidered rushnykh "РВ 01-09" (32x200cm) made in red-burgundy colors. The product uses homespun canvas. The embroidery is made with high-quality Ukrainian threads. The embroidery is characterized by a combination of Hutsul, Lemko and Polissya patterns. Such a rushnykh has a specific purpose: it is used for wedding ceremonies, as well as for decorating icons both at home and in churches.
Looking at the embroidered towel, one can say that this is a unique melodic Ukrainian song. The ritual significance of the Ukrainian embroidered towel is very wide: it was used to bless marriages and good deeds, they decorated the image with it, and bread was placed on the towel. Famous Carpathian hand-embroidered craftsmen master the technique of embroidering complex patterns using traditional thread colors. Basically, this is a combination of red and black, as well as yellow and green shades.
