It is difficult to imagine a Hutsul house without a blanket of wool, called lizhnyk, because for Hutsul people it is a bed, as well as the decoration of the home. Today, as many centuries ago, Hutsul people use an old technology of woolen lizhnyks manufacturing. Often the pattern of such lizhnyks is geometric. These are large and small rhombus, stripes, and rectangles of various shapes. The color scheme is not multi-colored, usually it is red, black, burgundy, gray, plum color. Plaids are woven only by hand on the wooden looms under the home conditions.
It is impossible to express in words the magnificence of the Carpathian lizhnyk. It is very warm, fluffy, soft and pastel tones of the Carpathian plaid have a calming effect. Its medicinal properties are known far beyond the Carpathians. The lizhnyk «Л 01-08» (1500х2000 сm) is made of sheep wool, dyed with natural colors, such as oak bark, onion peel, elderberry and walnut leaves. As an ornament square and rectangular figures are used. Due to the technology of long combing the effect of halftone in colors is reached, which gives the product a special charm.
